René is common ground - dance acrobats Xenia Bannuscher and Dries Vanwalle explore the concept of rebounding in a rectangular space. They delve into the essence of movement, emphasizing the joy of discovering variation and diversity within apparent sameness. This meticulously choreographed piece showcases the human aspects of collaboration, highlighting the shared experience of success and failure. René transcends virtuosity, inviting the audience to the depths of collaboration and the power of togetherness. René is the first piece by the company.

About the company

Sinking Sideways is a young Flemish contemporary circus collective. Sinking Sideways are working around repetition and choreographically. The current company members are Xenia Bannuscher (Germany), Dries Vanwalle (Belgium) and Raff Pringuet (Belgium). They met at the Circus Department of Codarts University of the Arts (Rotterdam, NL) and specialize in dance acro.

Xenia and Dries graduated in July 2020, Raf graduated in July 2021.​​
