About the Show

 

A man is dancing and balancing with bamboo sticks inside a small circle. Being close to the audience, he does not only manipulate the sticks, but also the focus and the attention of audience. Will the sticks be falling to ground? Will you catch them? Does the man want you to catch a stick? A beguiling soundtrack makes the seduction perfect.

About the Company

​

KLUB GIRKO is a collective that searches for new and contemporary ways of working with their disciplines and relating circus arts to dance, theatre, music and fine arts. They are driven by a desire to keep things moving and not to rest on an accomplished comfort zone or certain style. Therefore, they understand KLUB GIRKO as a framework for artistic exploration, collaborations and creations of many kinds.

KLUB GIRKO is a company in the independent performing arts scene and sees itself as responsible for developing new ways of working and not unconditionally accepting conventions.

​

KLUB GIRKO performs throughout Europe.

 

As an active member of BUZZ (Federal Association for Contemporary Circus), a participant in Zirkus ON, and at meetings of the Initiative for Feminist Circus, KLUB GIRKO supports the German circus network.

​

After being founded in the Netherlands, KLUB GIRKO is since 2020 based in Jena (Germany).  

 

Organized as a collective each project includes different members and different collaborations with externals.
