The Trace of the Snail

About the show

Can you remember a moment when your heart was as soft as floating feathers?

Breathe in, breathe out. Get ready for The Trace of the Snail. With a mix of hand balancing, juggling and spoken word, the debut show by Lemon Press Collective, which premiered in September 2023, brings to the stage the small, the fragile, the soft, and the weak. Too often we hide those qualities behind a facade of strength – but what would happen if we let down our guard and gave room to vulnerability?

With fluidity, detail, and honesty the contemporary circus piece has one mission: To remind us of all the beauty in softness.

“We want to open all the windows wide and let the wind in, even though we might get blown over. And not least of all, we want to share this experience.”

About the company

A shared poetic circus language, a love for shapes and nonchalance and a wish to talk about political topics on stage – that is what first made the ball juggler Mika and the hand ballancer Aurélie connect artistically during their studies in Codarts Circus, Rotterdam. To take their collaboration further after their graduation in 2022, they founded the Lemon Press Collective.
