About the show

How do we relate to the objects around us, and who is actually attached to whom here?
Humans are used to seeing themselves as the authority on Earth – but this perspective is increasingly starting to crumble. In their latest work, Hanschitz & Beierer explore the problematic relationship between humans and objects in postmodernity. Three performers and a cyr wheel embark, through acrobatics and dance, on a journey between control, dependency, and sensual utopia.

Objects weave our reality – are we ready to truly feel into it?

About the company

Sandra Hanschitz and Joël Beierer work together on interdisciplinary dance and circus productions that are strongly characterised by a clear aesthetic language and immersive experiential quality – with the cyr wheel at the centre of their work.

With their project “IIIII - about the art of letting go” (artistic direction: Sandra Hanschitz), they have been touring Central Europe together since 2021 and have the opportunity to present their work in 2024 as part of the German Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Having stumbled into the circus world as outsiders and in search of unique performance experiences, Hanschitz & Beierer create accessible and reflective works in the field of tension between stillness and loss of control:
the personal becomes collective, philosophy becomes alive, and concepts become physically tangible.

Together with their team, they are currently working on their new production “still.dependent”, in which they critically examine human hubris in dealing with the inanimate entities of this world and, in the process, discover the cyr wheel as a trio discipline.
