Circus Loops - Open Call

CIRCUS LOOPS is a European cooperation project led by Circusstad Festival (NL), Zirkus ON (DE), and Cirkus Kolektiv (HR), co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

The project aims to enrich contemporary circus creation by developing an innovative feedback methodology based on audience

perspectives that supports artists throughout their creative process.

Over a two-year period, CIRCUS LOOPS will research, test, and develop the Feedback Loops methodology - a structured approach that explores how dialogue with audiences can function as a co-dramaturgical tool in contemporary circus creation. Moving beyond traditional feedback formats, the project focuses on integrating

diverse audience perspectives - including circus audiences, young people, seniors, and refugees - directly into the development of new artistic work.

The methodology will be developed through a practical, transnational process involving three selected circus projects, which will each participate in three 10-day residencies in Croatia, Germany, and the Netherlands.

During each residency, artists will present work-in-progress showings and engage in facilitated feedback sessions, allowing them to create, test, and refine their work while actively contributing to the development of the Feedback Loops method.

We are seeking three contemporary circus artists or collectives based in Europe (including Creative Europe countries*) who are currently in the early to mid-stage of a new creation. This program is designed for artists interested in co-creation with audiences, and exploring how structured audience dialogue can enhance their artistic process.

Application deadline: 17 June 2026 (23:59 CET).

Applications must be submitted in English via the official online form.
